We’re back in Strasbourg! Another productive plenary session is beginning at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Already this week, we’ll be addressing issues that are particularly important to me and our region, such as climate crises, especially wildfire risks, which had a particularly severe impact on many member states this summer. As always, I will stand ready to support regions in crisis situations so that citizens are not left to fend for themselves.
On Tuesday, September 15, there will be a session dedicated to analyzing the “Fair Mobility Package for Workers.” This is a set of five legislative proposals aimed at guaranteeing clearly defined social rights to all citizens throughout the EU, regardless of where they choose to live or work.
On Wednesday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will deliver one of the most important annual speeches in the European Parliament – the State of the Union Address. During her speech, the President will present her vision for the future and the key initiatives for the coming year, which are based on the EU’s achievements to date, thereby strengthening the Commission’s accountability to Parliament. The Prime Minister of Canada will also be a special guest at the session.
