I visited the TORAF Seed Company in Maciejów – an extraordinary place where innovation meets passion, science, and courage. It is here, thanks to the work of a young team with vision and energy, that the TORAF Seed Mission project is being carried out, which aims to send seeds into suborbital space aboard the Polish PERUN rocket.
This is the first initiative of its kind in Europe – combining plant breeding, scientific research, and space technology. TORAF operates its own seed production on over 40 hectares, and today their seeds from the Opole region are becoming part of a project with global reach.
The Opole region is proving that it can look to the future – both literally and figuratively.
Thank you to the entire team for an inspiring meeting, a conversation about innovation, and the tremendous passion they put into their work. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for every subsequent phase of the mission – 50, 80, 100, and 150 km above Earth!
